Senior Lifestyles
**Wednesdays**

Join the 55+ Club, a social club designed specifically for adults ages 55 and older. Learn and explore various types of nature at its best in the county parks. The weather outside might be frightful, but a social club sounds quite delightful! Come relax, enjoy nature, & have coffee on the Parks with your new friends.

children must be accompanied by an adult
$15 per couple, $5 for each additional child

Pre-registration and payment is required on or before March 27. No registrations will be accepted after the due date or when the program is filled whichever comes first.
Bring your favorite cup and come drink tea or lemonade with the animals inside the Nature Center. There will be a storyteller, continental breakfast, arts & crafts and much more.

Women Only
Fishing Instruction

April 12 at Luhr Park
Free 1-3 pm
Ages 18 and older

Come out to Luhr Park to learn basic fishing skills and information. Participants will learn how to cast, bait a hook, and try to catch fish. This program is for all those women out there that want to learn how to fish in a fun and stress free environment. Poles and bait will be provided. No fishing license needed for this program.

Spring Stroll

With spring here, join the naturalist at the shelter for an easy stroll through the woods in search of signs of spring. Use all five senses to explore the trails. We will be walking on paths. ADA accessible. Pre-registration is required at least one week in advance. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All ages welcome. Min 5/Max 20

Photography Comes Alive

You must have basic working knowledge of your camera you are bringing with you. Learn photography tips, explore techniques, tools and improve your photographs from local photographer Robb Quinn.

Wildlife Hike

Meet at Luhr Park Nature Center

Schools Out; come stretch those weary legs at the Park. Take a stroll through Luhr County Park! Meet at the nature center for a naturalist-led hike & do an investigative search for what nature has to offer...(we will be hiking in the woods so please wear appropriate foot wear.) Pre-registration is required at least one week in advance. All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Geocaching & Letterboxing

June 30 5:30-6:30 pm
Meet at Luhr Park Nature Center

Test yourself on a treasure hunt! This adventurous sport promises a different look at Luhr Park as we tromp off-trail in pursuit of the elusive Geocache & Letterboxing hidden around our park! If you have your own GPS unit and a Stamp and Pad, bring it along! (not required) For all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Ages 6-13
Parents are not required to participate or stay during the program. $8.00 per person / per program. All programs include arts and crafts.

July 15 Fantastic Flyers- Learn about birds, butterflies and more.
July 22 Cycles of Life- Learn about animals’ lives and the roles they play.
July 29 Nature Detectives-Use clues to unlock the mysteries of nature.
August 5 Eco- Education - We will explore the wetland, pond, forest, and prairie ecosystems and what makes each unique.
August 12 Geo- Tree and Me - Learn about trees using geocaching and a first person approach.

Pet Fest in the Park – from Wags to Whiskers

FREE – no pre-registration

August 16 Luhr County Park 9 – 11:30am Rain or Shine

Is your pet itching to go on a walk in the park? Then you are bound to have a ruff- ruff bark of a good time! Our co-sponsor, The LaPorte County Small Animal Shelter along with many other animal vendors will have stations set-up along the trail with goodies. We will have many demonstrations, costume contest, obedience tips; adopt a new pet, animal photography, and much more. This is a great chance to meet and socialize with other pet lovers. All animals must be on a leash at all times and “oops” bags will be provided. Aggressive or female animals in heat are not allowed.
