$5.00 A Child / Per Program
An adult is required to participate.
The program includes arts & crafts,games, snack, and more.
All activities are related to the program topic.

Senior Lifestyles FREE

Join the 55+ Club, a delightful social club designed specifically for adults ages 55 and older. Learn and explore many opportunities from health to gardening and balancing your active life. Come relax, enjoy nature, and have coffee or tea on the Parks with your new friends.

Luhr County Park Nature Center from 9 – 10 am monthly on Wednesdays. Call 219-325-8315 at least one week in advance to sign-up and assure a spot. Max 30 (Free Program)

Fishing Instruction

Ages 18 and older

Come out to Luhr Park to learn basic fishing skills and information. This program is for all those women out there that want to learn how to fish in a fun and stress free environment. Poles and bait will be provided. No fishing license needed for this program.

Attention Homeschoolers sign up for this fun educational program. Participants will learn about insects and bugs through hands on activities. All supplies will be provided. Pre-registration is required by May 16. Max of 40 participants. Sign up fast to avoid disappointment!

Wildlife Hike

Meet at Luhr Park Nature Center

Schools Out; come stretch those weary legs at the Park. Take a stroll through Luhr County Park! Meet at the nature center for a naturalist-led hike & do an investigative search for what nature has to offer...(we will be hiking in the woods so please wear appropriate foot wear.)
Pre-registration is required at least one week in advance. All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tuesdays at Luhr 9am - 12pm Ages 6-13
Parents are not required to participate or stay during the program. $8.00 per person / per program. All programs include arts and crafts.

Pet Fest in the Park – from Wags to Whiskers

FREE – no pre-registration
August 20 Luhr County Park 9 – 11:30am Rain or Shine

Is your pet itching to go on a walk in the park? Then you are bound to have a ruff- ruff bark of a good time! Our co-sponsor, The LaPorte County Small Animal Shelter along with many other animal vendors will have stations set-up along the trail with goodies. We will have many demonstrations, costume contest, obedience tips, adopt a new pet, animal photography, and much more. This is a great chance to meet and socialize with other pet lovers. All animals must be on a leash at all times and “oops” bags will be provided. Aggressive or female animals in heat are not allowed.

Scout Leaders

Free Environmental Education Programs are offered to groups throughout the year. The programs last one hour or longer depending on the group size and age. Programs can be scheduled at Creek Ridge Park, Luhr Park, Bluhm Park or Red Mill Park. Click here for more Information.
